Road MapIt’s getting to be about that time of the year. You pack your stuff and go on a road trip. The fact is that Americans love going on road trips between June and August. According to AAA, the average trip this year will be about 620 miles and we will spend about $1,052 on this year’s road trip. They also predict that lodging and rental cars will be lower this year than years past.

For us, being in Northern California, our favorite road trips are to Lake Tahoe, San Luis Obispo, Yosemite Park, and Santa Cruz. We’ve also driven to Salt Lake City, Portland (OR), Las Vegas, San Diego, etc…

So, we ask:

What are some of your favorite road destinations?

Do you have a favorite food joint?

Tell us about your favorite road trip of the past and the best story within two months will win a prize of unspeakable value…  :)

Might be this months prize, or it might not.

Might be this months prize, or it might not.

Well it looks like I get to keep my beloved Porsche. I picked up a few emails that were close to my time (sorry guys, can’t give it to you till you win), but it looks like my lap on the ‘Ring still stands for now. In the mean time, she’s still haunting the tracks, picking off unsuspecting players, but still waiting for a new home. I’ll bring her out again some time soon.

For May, I’m still tuning a few cars, but if you are smart, you’d dust off your B Class record holders, and get ready for a smaller track. I’ll go easy on you guys this time.

This could be yours!

In case you missed the teaser, I’m going to gift my beloved 997 GT3 RS to a gamer who can beat my best lap time in Forza. She is a one owner, low miles, multi accident track rat. Don’t ask for a CarFax on it though; you’re only getting the digital version. I promise I’ll leave the suspension settings where they’re at.

So the gauntlet has been dropped: 7:37.466 on the Nurburgring. While I wasn’t able to grab the lap record of the ‘Ring, that puts me in the top 99% of lap times, and makes getting my Porsche fairly hard. She’s not a horsepower monster, but she’ll run some good times. Better bring your A game…

Rules:
Contest ends 4/30, at 11:59pm.
Track is obviously the Nurburgring.
A class only. Anyone can beat that time with an S class car.
ABS is the only driving aid allowed.
Must present proof of your lap time. Take a screen shot, and email it. Screen shot must include your gamertag, and the date of the lap.
You must have run the lap this month.
Car will be gifted 5/01.

In the off chance that more than one person beats my lap time, the quickest lap holder will get my car. If nobody beats my time, I’ll keep posting lap times with it on other tracks, and it will be up for grabs again.

Email your screen shots to Brendan@KarFarm.com. Subject line “Forza Challenge.” Also, include your XBL gamertag again, so I make sure I get it to you. Good luck!

Drifting the CCGT out of turn 10 in Forza Motorsports 2.

Drifting the CCGT out of Laguna Seca's turn 10 in Forza Motorsport 2.

Ok, I’ll freely admit it. I’m hopelessly addicted to Forza. When I’m not driving real cars hard, or writing about them, I’m pounding out lap times in my bedroom. I’m on my third XBOX 360, after two succumbed to the red rings of death. With my addiction for Forza running deep, those poor little boxes get quite a work out, and live short lives.

So now for the fun part. I’m going to work my little thumbs off, tune a car, and set a lap time. It will most likely be on the Nurburgring, as I’m looking to see who has the brass balls to push a car hard for 13 miles without making any mistakes. If you have the tuning skills, the driving skills, and proof that you beat me, I’ll give you the car I set the time with. I’m not going to say for sure, but I’d knock the dust off your A class heroes, and that is the class the contest will be limited to.

In the case that multiple people beat my time, and good luck with that, the person with the best time will win the car. All you have to do is email a screenshot to Brendan@KarFarm.com, or let me know your XBL Gamertag and I’ll look you up.

Check back soon, as I’ll have the time to beat ready for you, maximum class of car you can run, screenshots of the car you might win, and your window of opportunity.
